Tiger, Tiger - Melvin Burgess
The head of a Chinese gang is after the tigers of Malham Tiger Park, especially a young tigress called Lila, who is a rare "Spirit Tiger". When the poaching goes wrong, there is a massacre of tigers and men. With her supernatural powers, Lila pursues everyone involved in the massacre.

My Brother Sam is Dead - James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier
All his life, Tim Meeker has looked up to his brother Sam. Sam's smart and brave -- and is now a part of the American Revolution. Not everyone in town wants to be a part of the rebellion. Most are supporters of the British -- including Tim and Sam's father. With the war soon raging, Tim know he'll have to make a choice -- between the Revolutionaries and the Redcoats . . . and between his brother and his father.

Boy Meets Boy - David Levithan
Love is never easy. Especially if you're PAUL. He's a sophomore at a highschool like no other - and these are his friends: Infinite Darlene, the homecoming queen and star quarterback. Joni, Paul's best friend who may not be his best friend anymore. Tony, his other best friend, who can't leave the house unless his parents think he's going on a date... with a girl. Kyle, the ex-boyfirend who won't go away. Rip, the school bookie who sets the odds.. and NOAH. The Boy. The one who changes everything.

The Cannibals *starring Tiffany Spratt* - Cynthia D. Grant
"Was it true, like Campbell said, that I'm just a big phony who doesn't really notice anybody but herself and wants life to be like TV, with everybody watching and everything all beautiful and glittery? No. If that were true, this book would have only the good parts, not the parts where people are calling me a jerk"

Rainbow High - Alex Sanchez
Jason, Kyle, and Nelson have each come a long way since running into each other at a gay youth meeting at the start of senior year.

Now, as their high school days draw to a close and these three friends move toward one of life's most defining crossroads, each will be compelled to choose his own direction - and prepare for the consequences.

Lisa- Carol Matas
During the Nazi occupation of Denmark, Lisa and other teenage Jews become involved in an underground resistance movement and eventually must flee for their lives.

Vegan Virgin Valentine- Carolyn Mackler
Mara Valentine is in control. She's a straight-A student, a vegan, and her parents' pride and joy. She's neck-and-neck with her womanizing ex-boyfriend for number-one class ranking and plans to kick his salutatorian butt on her way out the door to Yale. Mara has her remaining months in Brockport all planned out.

The plan does NOT involve having V, her slutty, pot-smoking sixteen-year-old niece--yes, niece--come to live with her family. Nor does it involve lusting after her boss at the local cafe or dreaming about grilled cheese sandwiches every night. Before Mara knows it, things are spinning wildly out of control...

Mathieu Da Costa Challenge

The annual Mathieu Da Costa Challenge of the Department of Canadian Heritage is a fun way for young people to learn more about Canada’s rich cultural diversity. The contest invites young Canadians between the ages of 9 and 18 to submit a piece of creative writing (e.g. short story, poem, etc.) or artwork celebrating the contributions made by Canadians of Aboriginal, African or other ethnocultural backgrounds to the building of Canada.

If you are interested in joining in this challenge and need more information, stop by or e-mail liz@peclibrary.org for information :)
